Many cultures handle death, grief, loss and burial far better than Western tradition here in the U.S.
I combine my Artist skills, Theological Training along with insights gained through my own journey through this challenging process to create ritual objects for those searching for a more meaningful alternative to services offered by commercial funeral homes.
You can email me at douglas_online@mac.com or dabbott@unitedseminary.edu

When I lost a beloved of my own family I was sent on a search into a journey for wholeness, healing and meaning. I am a visual artist and I was very frustrated with the limited and seemingly empty options provided through the commercial funeral home industry. My own path lead me to pursue my Masters in Theology and Art at United Theological Seminary [UTS]. I will complete my graduate coursework this May, 2008.

During my Buddhism and the Arts course I created the Buddha Blessings project. I am now making this project part of my life’s work. I hope to provide meaningful options for others seeking to create memorial or ritual for the beloved of others. If you are interested in more information please contact me by email with your phone number and a convenient time to call.

I will be adding more to this section in the next few weeks. Thanks!
doug
updated 3/17/2008
